Steinbach's Professional Theatre Company

The Pilgrim's Progress

Adapted for the stage by Marc A. Moir.
*New Steinbach venue!

A medieval play, presented in a medieval way.

Synopsis

An action-driven adaptation of one of the most popular

books in history.

About the Adaptation

The Pilgrim's Progress was published in 1678 and has not been out of print since. It has been translated into 200 languages and has sold 250 million copies making it the 7th most popular book of all time, and the second most published book in history after the Bible.

Our play features a minimalist set of four ladders and four actors who will morph seamlessly between 70 different characters. Very similar to the style of play that would have been popular at the time John Bunyan first wrote his epic allegory. It features sword fights, songs, laughs, and tears. It is an incredible feat of acting, and an exciting, intimate, and immersive experience for audiences of all ages to enjoy.

About Looking Glass Theatre

ENTERTAINMENT YOU CAN TRUST

Exceptional:

We choose our plays and our actors very carefully, making sure our audiences will always be able to walk away from an evening with us saying, "Wow. That was one of the best shows I've ever seen." This adaptation of "The Pilgrim's Progress" is sure to be one of the most impressive feats of acting you'll ever see on stage!

Trustworthy:

We care about our audiences' sensibilities, and make a point to never include "R-rated" content in any of our shows. "The Pilgrim's Progress" is no exception, and we encourage families with children ages 7+ to attend!

Entertainment:

As entertainers, we recognize our job is just that: To entertain! We will never use our stages to preach at you or try to change or judge your beliefs; political, religious, or otherwise. We encourage our audiences to simply enjoy the show, and leave with the same convictions they had when they came.

This remains true for "The Pilgrim's Progress". While our adaptation is based on an overtly Christian story, our production is not evangelistic in nature. We are simply telling a famous medieval story, from a medieval time, in a medieval way. The symbolism and metaphors can mean as much, or as little, to you as you care for them to.

In short, at Looking Glass Theatre, we give you the kind of shows you want to see: Shows that are exceptional quality, with trustworthy content, that entertain. Every time.
